DID WE JUST READ YOUR MIND?
Common questions and misconceptions answered.
I need to get in shape before I can start jiu jitsu.
False! The best way to get in shape for BJJ is to do BJJ. Our instructors will make sure you are starting at a good pace for where you are right now.
What is an average class like?
The class will start with a warm-up, followed by instruction. Moves will be broken down into easy to execute moves. Fundamental classes will be followed by open mat for extra drilling or rolling (sparring).
What do I wear?
For a gi class: wear comfortable workout clothes to go under a uniform we will provide
For a nogi class: comfortable athletic clothes, shorts with no pockets or leggings.
Shoes: slides or flip flops are best/easiest
What class should I attend if I am new?
Fundamental classes, whether gi or nogi, are the best classes for beginners. You will be partnered with someone that has experience and can help you succeed and train safely.
I can't afford to get hurt.
No problem! Our classes are structured to keep you and your training partners safe. You can train safely and still kick butt! Let the instructor know if you have any restrictions.
I'm afraid I'm a slow learner.
This will differ based on each person, how many classes they take and natural ability. The good news is we don't expect you to learn in a timeframe. Come as you are, ready to learn and we will get you there!
